MilkCoffee Showcase – Winter/Christmas

Hello and how are you?  I hope that the UK storm did not affect you too much wherever you are.  We had one flower pot blow over in the garden and that was it!  How lucky were we?! My best wishes to those who didn’t fare so well.

So what am I up to today then, well I am here to announce that it is showcase day over on the MilkCoffee Blog.

And why am I telling you this you ask?  Well I have been asked to join the MilkCoffee design Team.
What?  No-way!

Well yes-way actually and I am as proud as punch!  I’m still in a state of disbelief to be honest.  When I read the announcement and saw the name ‘Jane ‘ I didn’t for a second think it was me!  I am beyond thrilled to be able to be part of this amazing team. MilkCoffee digi stamps are out of this world and a joy to colour.  Check out all the cute images here but be warned you will be spoilt for choice!

So what did I make?

Well I chose to use this uber sweet image called Charlotte and Candy Cane  (isn’t she just adorable!) and I coloured her with Spectrum Noirs.

The poinsettias are a Spellbinders die and the snowflakes are from All Occasions.  Charlotte was cut out using a Sizzix Framelit die and the swirls are from Tonic.  The gorgeous blue snowflake paper is by LOTV.

So there you have it.  My first MilkCoffee Showcase card! Yay!
(Hope it won’t be my last!! Tee Hee!)

Well have a good day.

See ya!

Embellishment Bingo at the Cutie Pies Challenge Blog!

Hello, how are you keeping? Hope you survived that storm. Crikey that was scary!

Anyway, today launches a brand new challenge over at the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog  and our theme this fortnight is ‘Embellishment Bingo, and make it Cute!’

So here is the bingo board:

Our sponsor is the wonderful Crafty Ribbons and our winner will receive a £10 voucher to spend in their amazing store here

I always enjoy embellie bingo but it is so hard to choose just three of all the wonderful things we find in our stash.  So I decided to go FULL HOUSE!  Gosh!

I decided to stick with all things Halloween and make a card for a friend of mine whose birthday just happens to be 31st October.  Apparently, because of this, a rumour circulated when she was at school that she was a witch and could put a spell on anyone she didn’t like.  Needless to say she rather enjoyed the notoriety and only wore black for much of her teenage life.  She never owned a cat though as she’s allergic but she did have a black goldfish called Starsky (only the over 40’s will know who this is) but unlike a cat I don’t think he could sit on a broom.  So this one’s for her.

I used a digi I won from Digi Stamp Boutique called Halloween Freya and coloured her with Promarkers. I cut her out using Spellbinders Labels 4 and mounted her into SB A2 Filigree Delight, which (no pun intended) in turn was mounted onto glitter card.

The papers are from my stash and the roses are from The Hobby House.  I cut a purple flower using Heartfelt Creations Sun Kissed Fleur and put a Papermania mini button in the middle.

The only thing I did not have from the bingo board was a charm so I had to make my own (oh eck I hear you cry). So I drew a ghost onto some shrink plastic punched a hole in it and… well…shrank it.  He is so dinky!  I love him! Not scary at all!

So there you are, a witchy card for a lady born on Halloween! But do pop over to the Cutie Pies blog to see the amazing inspiration created by my teamies.  They are fab!

See ya!

Trick or Treat?

Hi all.  Hope everything is well with you and yours.

Today I would like to share a CAS Halloween invitation I made (I can’t let you see the inside as it includes names and an address.  You can come if you like but there may not be enough food to go round!)

The image is a digi I won from Stitchy Bear called Trick or Treat.  I love these cute kids with their slightly scary pumpkins.

I resized the image and added a suitable spooky sentiment that I typed in Chiller font.  I drew a spider to dangle over the kids and coloured everything with Promarkers.

Just simple matting & layering, 4 black gems in the corners and all done.  No 3ding just CAS through and through.

See ya!

Smiling always (!)!

Cute & Tagtastic Cutie Pie Challenge

Hello, how are you keeping?

Today launches a brand new challenge over at the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog  and our theme this fortnight is Cute & Tagtastic!  In other words use a tag on your project or make your project a tag; your choice.  However please be sure to make it cute, in fact the cuter the better!  And if you’ve running a little low on mojo check out the amazing inspiration created by my team mates.  Their designs are sure to get the old creative juices flowing (sounds quite messy that!).

Our sponsor this time is the wonderful

and one lucky will win a gift certificate for their gorgeous online store which can be found here!

So for this challenge I decided to keep it relatively simple (well for me) and make a Christmas card  ‘present‘, with a tag attached.  In fact I have three!

The papers and sentiment are from LOTV and the image is Makey Bakey Mouse from Crafters Companion.  I coloured using my Promarkers and added a little touch of Stickles for blingage!

Singing his heart out, bless him!

I used 2 types of ribbon and ripped the edge of the ‘pressie’ to show tissue paper sticking out.  The idea was that it looked like an eager someone was desperate to find out what was inside.  Unfortunately they would have been disappointed as it is just kraft card (I’d quite like that for Christmas though!).

So there you are, another Christmas card under my belt.  Not too sure how many I’ve made now.

See ya!

Canary Love!

Hey, hope all is well with you and yours.

Today I would like to share a card incorporating my favourite colour combo of all time. Lilac/purple and aqua/turquoise.  I cannot explain it but these colours make me happy so as I have had a nightmare migraine this weekend I thought I ought to cheer myself up.

The image is my current obsession which is anything drawn by the amazing Krista Smith, and this one is Canary Love.  So gorgeous.  I hope I have done her justice with my colouring as I used my new Spectrum Noir pens (liking them a lot!) but I’m still getting used to the range of colours.

I paper pieced her dress using several different papers from my favourite pad from LOTV which is the NitWit Collection called ’Promises’ (yum, yum) and added shade with my pens.  I even cut out a flower and put that in her hair. Not too sure if the paper piecing is overly obvious, I’ll give you a close up just in case.

I cut my image out using Spellbinder Labels 17 and cut a couple more in the complimentary colours to add a layered ’shadow’ behind.  The ‘Promises’ paper was also used in the background with a Spellbinders A2 Bracket Border cut along the edge to add interest.

The frame is made from paper clay and a Martha Stewart mould and I coloured it with Dusty Concord and Peacock Feather DI’s, with a dash of Stickles for good measure.  The sentiment is from Dawn Bibby and quite appropriate for the image I thought.

So there you are, flat backed pearls and ribbon say ‘card done’!

See ya!

Smiling always (!)!

A Spooky Autumn

Hi, hope all is well with you and yours

It’s my favourite time of year.  I love to see all the changing colours of the leaves and it means Christmas is not too far away! (ooh ‘eck!)

We always celebrate Halloween as a family, we’ve done it for years, and it’s a great excuse to have a party.  We call it ‘Spooky Food Night’.  Yes I know but when we were young we used to try to make the party food look spooky, you know, sausages that looked like fingers, and jelly worms in the punch.  I’m happy to say we have never grown out of it.

Anyway, enough waffle.  Today I would like to share my take on autumn/Halloween.  It actually started out as just a card incorporating autumnal shades but then went a bit ‘Halloweeny’.

I used the gorgeous ‘Autumn’ by the awesome Krista Smith and I coloured her with Promarkers.  I cut her out using Spellbinders scalloped circle dies and inked the edges with Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge DI’s.

The leaves are a Clarity stamp set and I edged them with gilding flake (boy that stuff gets everywhere!).  The cat is a Kanban stamp and the pumpkin was a free digi.  I wanted to add a spider or two so I drew one hanging from her hair and gave the Memory Box Precious Heart die some eyes and a few legs, silly I know.

Once I had added my bow I thought I was all done until I realised I had not included a sentiment.  Doh!  So I drew a ghost, made the word BOO! from his eyes and stuck him in the corner.  I figured it was the ghost version of Hi!

And there you are, a spooky autumn.

See ya!

Smiling always (looking forward to Spooky Food Night)!
