New Blog!!!

Hello all!

OK so it’s like this…my blog, this blog, and I have decided that we do not love each other anymore and are going our separate ways.  Irreconcilable differences have been declared due to slow loading, not allowing me to add badges and refusing to link to some challenges.  I mean what’s a girl to do?! Well I’ll tell you, find some-blog new that’s what and so here is my new partner in crime…..

These fabby beach huts are part of the SUMMERTIME CD DOWNLOAD and I merged them with a couple of the clouds and that big round yellow thing…now what’s it called….oh yes the sun that are also included in the bundle.  If you live in the UK you will understand my forgetful nature.  Did we have summer??  Did I miss it??

Guest Designer for Julia Spiri!

Hello, how are things with you? Good I hope!

I have the honour of being Guest Designer on the JULIA SPIRI CHALLENGE BLOG this fortnight so thank you very much for inviting me ladies!

The challenge has a Garden theme and I am using the stunningly beautiful PRINCESS JASMINE for my make. Look at that amazing hair and those gorgeous eyes!

I made one of my fave card shapes a diorama/shadow box/theatre card thingy (not its real name), using some bright, highly patterned papers to give a rich Arabian feel; which I hope it does.

On a previous card HERE I used some Christmas bauble dies to create a Sultan’s palace look so decided to use them again this time to cut out the aperture and sentiment. Full of Eastern promise don’t ya think..…or is that Fry’s Turkish Delight! J

Oh my gosh you NEED it, trust me.  And as soon as I clapped eyes on the fabulous White Rabbit image I’M LATE I knew what I wanted to do with him. I had the idea of giving the impression of him dashing across the card because…well….he’s late.  He obviously needs to get his hands on our discount code! J

I used Word to duplicate, manipulate and then lighten each image progressively to give the illusion of speed and tried to adapt my colouring to match. I’ll let you rate my success on that one. J I then added one of the gorgeous papers behind him…them…whatever!

Polkadoodles Daisydays Stamping!

Good evening everybody!  How are things!

Did you manage to catch our fabulous Nikky Hall on Create and Craft this week?  If not you can catch-up HERE

Well she showcased the most FABULOUS stamp and CD sets which I had the honour of working with and I would like to share one of those projects with you if I may.

Stamping!! Oh my! I haven’t really stamped in years. The digital world kind of grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and dragged me in, so having a chance to play and get out the old watercolours again was a real joy for me. Loved it!!

My idea was fairly simple, bit like myself. I used my circle dies in varying sizes to make a mask (get me!) and stamped and inked within the apertures.  I then cut and embossed more circle to make frames…which went some way to disguise where I had missed bits. J

Delightful Wednesday – BROWN!

Hello there! Hope all is well with you and yours!

It is Delightful Wednesday on the DIGITAL DELIGHTS BLOG where Sandy and I have been showcasing Wendy’s awesome designs using a different colour each month.  So we picked BROWN to be our colour for June which gives me the perfect excuse to use kraft card…as if I ever needed one! J

This cutie is CELEBRATION CHARLIE and as he is a bit of a star I popped him onto a star card using Tonic dies. J

This is actually my last project for Digital Delights as, after nearly 2 years, I have decided to step down from the DT. I have had a fabulous time designing with Wendy’s wonderfully cute images but it is time to move on. I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Wendy and of course to my amazing DT sister Sandy too.  I will miss you loads! :’(

So OMG have you seen the brand new collection from Nikky called WINNIE IN WONDERLAND it is totally amazing and I have used it to make my card this week!

This is the stunning RED QUEEN and I have cropped, flipped and rotated her to make her into a playing card.  You do not need a fancy graphics program either as I have created the whole thing in Word. And if you are prepared for a trawl through lots of piccies I have a tutorial to show you below.

The red queen was famous for painting her white roses red but as I didn’t have a rose digi I used this fabulous flamingo instead! J

OK so I’ll show you how I created this image.

Take the image into Word and resize.

Right click and WRAP TEXT then click THROUGH. The image can now be moved anywhere on the page. You can also do this step via the SIZE AND POSITION function as below.

Right click and CROP to the size you want.

Then COPY and PASTE so you now have 2 cropped and movable images.

Select one of the images and go to LAYOUT and FLIP VERTICALLY then also FLIP HORIZONTALLY

Move to the position you want and there you go.

I also inserted one of the cards from the Ephemera section, made that movable too with the WRAP TEXT and THROUGH function.  Resized it then placed it over my image …..

....and sent it to the back.

Ta dah!!!!

Colouring: LYRA REMBRANDT POLYCOLOR PENCILS

Colours used: Skin: 97, 96, 95, 1 - Reds: 92, 91, 90, 89 - Yellows: 83, 84 - Blue: 48, 47 - Pink: 28

Paper and sentiment: WINNIE IN WONDERLAND BIG KAHUNA BUNDLE

Dies: Tattered Lace ‘Large Decorative Rectangles’ , ‘Nesting Hearts’ and alphabet – Sue Wilson ‘Pierced Banners’

Others: Ribbon – Black Soot DI - 1 gem
